Boeing 717

Impulse Airlines was a regional operator with a fleet of Beech 1900s. When dumped as an Ansett partner in 1999, it decided to take on the major airlines with "no frills" services on the main trunk routes between Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Services commenced in June 2000. After several rounds of price wars, Impulse entered into a commercial arrangement with Qantas Airways from May 2001 to operate the 717s as part of the QantasLink fleet. Impulse Airlines ceased trading under its own name. The 717s were wet leased to Qantas, operated by the Impulse leasing company Airconnex. Impulse Airlines was bought outright by Qantas in 2001.
